Cute Halloween/Harvest cake the wee people and I made yesterday:

Cute Dream banner I made for my living room (my living room is painted gray with lots of red and black, and the kitchen on the other side of this banner is painted red, so it goes really well!). It looks a little wonky, I need to straighten and rehang it:

And my cute Jack! Can’t believe my monkey is 3 years old!

Ran to Target with Mom today and picked up a few great deals! There is a $4.00 coupon available online for any Hungry Hungry Hippos game (also lists a few other games), you can use it on the travel size version which only costs $4.99 at Target! Also, Glade Scented Oil candles in the pretty tins are on sale for $1.66, and many of them have $1.50 off coupons right inside! Can’t beat $0.16 for a great smelling candle! My total for this purchase was only $2.24, and $0.77 of that was tax!! Nice
The HHH game will be put aside for a Christmas present for one of the kiddos, and the candles are burning as we speak….ahh, I love the smell of clean linen candles!

I recently finished knitting a scarf for a swap I was in on Craftster. I used the Karaoke Cable Scarf pattern, and Patons Classic Merino wool in a beautiful green (it was a Twilight swap, and I chose the green to represent the lush greenery that is Forks!). I’ve worked with cables once or twice, but this is hands down the most cabling I’ve ever done. It was so simple, and the effect was awesome! I forgot to snap a picture before sending it out, so I had to wait for my swap partner to post one before I could share. I will definitely be making more for Christmas presents!

I love getting mail, and sign up for all the free samples I can find. After all, most of them come with coupons! Todays haul was quite impressive! I’m a member of Psst! , a General Mills community that occasionally sends out samples and coupons. Today I received a box containing a full size package of Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters (they are delicious!!) along with 10 coupons for $1.60 off! That is definitely one of the best samples I’ve received! I also received two cereal samples, Kashi Honey Sunshine (with a $2.00 off coupon), and Total Blueberry Pomegranate (with a $.75 coupon), both of which are quite tasty. Rounding out the day was a set of samples from Always/Tampax (including a coupon for a totally free box of Always Infinity!) and a Parents magazine. The magazine stumps me, as I’ve never requested a subscription, and yet have received one in the mail, addressed to me, for the past 2 or 3 months. Hmm?

I participated in a swap on Craftster recently, making Dotee Dolls! Little dolls between 4-6″ tall, made from whatever materials your creativity desires! I forgot to take a picture of the ones I made before I sent them, so I can’t share those yet, but here are the ones I received from my group. I can’t wait to find a cool spot to hang them!!

I’m knitting again! It’s not much, just a dishcloth/towel (not sure which one it will be yet!) but it’s something. After this is done, I want to knit a top for Natalie. I’ve been drooling over some of the newer patterns on Ravelry, and I want to make about a dozen things all at the same time! But first things first…my dishcloth

Over the past few months I have become a coupon fanatic! I have always loved saving money and catching great sales, but this is on a whole new level. I have a shockingly pink 3-ring binder full of baseball card holders that are stuffed full of coupons. I never leave home without it, because you never know when you are going to need a coupon! My local grocery store, Harris Teeter, offers double coupon savings (up to $0.99) EVERY day. This in itself is a fabulous thing, but occasionally they throw open the doors and offer TRIPLE coupon savings up to $0.99. I love this. Yesterday kicked off another week long round of triples, and my Mom, my brother and I were there first thing in the morning to take advantage. I picked up the most items because I had several non-sale things I needed at the house (my car has wheezed its last wheeze for the moment, and I have to take advantage of being at the grocery store when I can!) but I still managed to save a whopping 86% off my total. Yep, 86%! I don’t remember the savings percentage for my family, but I know they each paid under $5 for several bags. I picked up many items that ended up being totally free, like bathroom cleaner, deodorant, marinades, sour cream, salad dressing, the list goes on and on. Several of my items were also very, very cheap, like Dial hand soap for $0.04. I pinch every penny I have, so being able to get cleaning supplies and personal care items for free or super cheap is a wonderful thing.
I cannot wait for the Sunday paper to come out, I hope there are a few more freebie coupons for triples in there
