Every so often I hear something about The Jerk and one or two of his girlfriends. Not sure if all of them are kissy kissy girlfriends, or hey-I-happen-to-have-a-vagina girlfriends, but it doesn’t really matter. Some of them have had the nerve to email me on Myspace, some of them continue to call my cell phone and send me cutesy little “oops I thought this was D’s number” text messages. In the beginining, it made me sad and upset. A couple of months ago, it made me mad. Hell, a few weeks ago it still pissed me off. But you know what I realized with today’s message? It really doesn’t bother me anymore. I sat back from my computer screen, and asked myself what I honestly felt. Mostly- it was pity for these girls for a) feeling the need to be nasty to me, when I mostly have no idea who they are and b) being with him in the first place. It honest to God doesn’t upset me anymore, and this is a nice place to be.

Gabe started getting sick again yesterday afternoon, causing him to stay home from school and the little ones & I had to stay home from a scheduled playdate. Bummer all around. The weekend went pretty well, we stayed at home the entire time, playing games, watching movies, eating popcorn and being crafty (well, I was anyway!). I made Natalie several new sets of hair flowers yesterday, and have plans to use up all my fabric scraps this way!
I also finished the baby bib I had been knitting for Jack. The yarn is Lion Cotton, I just fell in love with the color the moment I saw it, and knew I had to have something made from it! Didn’t use a pattern, just knit a washcloth and added straps *lol*
Sorry for the crappy side photo, Jack is Not In The Mood. I think he may be feeling a wee bit sick as well, poor baby. I’m nearly finished with my Stitch & Pitch project…I had planned to have it totally completed by the end of the weekend, but then read that they extended the deadline by a month! So, plenty of time left. I still want to get it done asap, and will share a picture as soon as I’ve uploaded it to the Flickr pool set up for them. Until then!
Today we remember all those who have served our great country. In particular, I remember Danny. Younger brother of one of my best friends. A boy who liked to collect Pez and played on the high school football team. He had bright blue eyes and an engaging smile. He was killed in Baqubah, Iraq on June 24, 2004 at the age of 20. Rest in peace Danny. We miss you.

Here in the Winston household, we are diligently trying to reduce our carbon footprint, as well as living greener in general. We cleaned up the pond behind our home on Earth Day, have been buying more local/organic food products (gotta love Whole Foods Market) and I recently threw together these reusable grocery bags
Who knew grocery shopping could be so stylish?! The two larger bags are lined with an orange cotton, one small one is lined with green and the other with blue. I totally love them! I can’t wait to make more, but I was borrowing my Mom’s sewing machine and she needed it back. Bummer. I’ll be getting my own when my check finally comes in. Speaking of that, I called the publishing company to inquire about payment, since it had been a month since I received the invoice (which stated payment was being sent). I got a call back from a very nice woman who explained that there had been a merger/buyout thing and payments (for many designers) was kinda in limbo. As nice as it is to know that the check is not lost in the mail or anything…I just want to get paid! She told me it should have only taken two weeks. Sigh. So perhaps next week…perhaps. I did learn when my publication was going to be available though- next May!! A whole year. Crazy. The patterns are season-specific though, so I can understand it. I’m just so excited, it’s driving me crazy to have to wait another year!! In other crafty news, here is my Memorial Day project- A patriotic quilt for Jackson (corner flipped up so you can see the backing)
This is my very first quilt project, and so far it’s coming along nicely. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
Look who took his first steps yesterday! My baby is growing up way too fast, he’s not even 9 months old yet!
