I received my package from the I ❤ To Sew Swap today, and I love it! My partner sent a fabulous package. I loved the little pear pincushion and the knitting roll- how cool is that!! The fabrics looks like so much fun, I’m already planning a new purse and a new cosmetic bag with them. The swimsuit fabric is from Speedo, and is so pretty. The pattern she sent along with it does not include my current size, but I’m doing Weight Watchers with a friend, so hopefully in the future! It will be something to look forward to! I love the long zippers, most of the ones I have in my possesion are 7″ or so. These new ones will be good for backpacks- I have been debating making Natalie a new one for school. I figure I should make her one now, before she starts getting bogged down with homework! Oh, and the box of buttons makes me so happy! I have been making button flowers, and now I have a whole crop of new buttons to choose from. Today was a really good mail day!

I cannot believe my lil munchkin is nearly 2! Where has the time gone? I know this video has super crappy lighting (it looked better on the camera, I swear!) but check out the adorable Jack anyway!
A few new pretties!
I have wanted to make a quilt out of the kids old clothes for quite some time, and I’m so pleased to have finally finished one! I went a little out of order and started with Jack- it was easiest since he has all those outgrown baby clothes! I just cut a bunch of squares using an easy template I purchased at walmart and used a single sheet of batting. I used a length of fun anchor fabric I’ve had on hand for several years (!) for the back, and simply folded it over and stitched it in place instead of using a seperate binding. The result is a fun, cuddly quilt that Jack totally loves. I couldn’t be happier!
I received my swap package from the “Mostly FQ Swap” over on Craftster, and I was so pleased! Check out the yummy fabrics I received from aspenwall- I love it all, but the Heather Bailey Freshcut and the bananas are my favorite!
Speaking of swaps, I recently participated in the “I ❤ Jim Henson Swap” also on Craftster. Here are the items I sent out- A pendant with an image of JH decoupaged on the top, I painted the bamboo domino green and used gold wire and several small glass beads to finish it, then hung it on a gold tone chain.
Another necklace, this one a little more funky with Dr. Teeth and Beaker, decoupaged onto pink painted wooden tiles. The pendants are interchangeable on their ball chain.
And the box that those items are sitting on, hand painted using my favorite Lumiere paints (same ones used for the pendants) and decoupaged (again!) with my favorite image of JH. This is a shitty picture, but the gold patches you see are reflecting from the flash. The paint I used was a green with heavy gold tint mixed in. It’s rather stunning IRL!
I am SO addicted to these. In addition to this one, I’ve made one for myself, and I have several more cut out, just waiting to be sewn. For those of you who are interested, my etsy shop is: goobernana.etsy.com . Keep in mind that I’m just getting things up and running, although I have made two sales already! I’m going to get a button made for my sidebar here, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
I’ve been busy lately, trying to stock pile things for my etsy shop. Most of the jewelry that I make is destined to end up in the “for sale” pile, but this one is for meeee! I am in love with it. The beads are an incredible mix, some from old stash and some from new, some from a swap partner, some from a fun bead shop in the area, some from etsy. I have an addiction to owl beads lately- the large black and white one on this bracelet? I have them in two other colors, and I’m actively hunting down a third. So cute!
Whew, thats a bit of a mouthfull! Don’t blame me, thats what the tutorial was called on Craftster 🙂 Anywhoo, I love, love, love this little bag! I found the awesome fabric on sale 50% off at Joanns last week, and bought 2 yards of each. Who knows what other fun stuff I could make! The tutorial (I will find the link and put it here, I swear!) was very easy, but my zipper turned out to be a little too long, hence the wonkiness. Oh well, it still works and I still love it!
