I joined a playgroup a few weeks ago, with the hopes of meeting other moms and kiddos in the area. Thought Natalie would rather enjoy it. Well, we haven’t been able to make a playdate yet (the one that we were able to go to was canceled 😦 ) but..Several of the moms get together every other Wednesday night to knit! How cool is that?! Despite a nasty rainstorm last night, I drummed up the courage to go out and meet some people. It was fabulous! I met 4 great new friends and nearly finished another hat for Jack. What more could you ask for?
And yeah, I’m still pregnant. Sigh. 😉
Send me some labor vibes! Was a whole centimeter dilated in the dr’s office today. Well, to be fair, I was 1cm on the “outside” and about a half on the “inside” of the cervix. But hey, thats change from last week 🙂 My blood pressure was high and I had a headache (I tried to explain to the doc that both probably stemmed from waiting an hour AGAIN to be seen!) so she sent me to L&D. I didn’t really want to go, because a) I felt fine b) my blood pressure wasn’t THAT high (130/91) and c) it was already nearing 1pm and I had to pick Gabe up at 3. Bear in mind that I get seen at UNC Chapel Hill, which is 40 minutes away from my house, and about a half hour away from Gabe’s school. However, I went like a good little patient, and ended up being late to pick up Gabe. Just by a little bit though. They ran some labs (everythings fine), did a heartrate tracing (fine), measured contractions (none at that time), and loaded me up with some H2O (slightly dehydrated again). I told Jack that we’re not going back to L&D until he’s ready to come out, little booger. I knew it was going to be rather pointless, and it was. The biophysical profile went well though. At first the tech measured my fluid at 6 (6 what, I have no clue!) and was concerned because last week it had been 12. But then we noticed this huge dark balloon in Jacks’ abdomen…little boy had the fullest bladder I’ve ever seen! We waited around for him to pee, and fluid levels shot back up to 10. I thought that was pretty funny *grin* So here I am, still waiting to have this baby. I did have 3 mild contractions in the car, while racing to get Gabe, but they tapered off and nothing since. So, labor vibes if you please. And lots of them! 🙂
Wee ones and I spent a lovely afternoon at the park today, and topped it off with some ice cream 🙂
MUCH thanks to Deneen for the pic info! 🙂 Everything else is going well, I’ve resigned myself to being pregnant forever. Crafty-wise, I’m working on a kitty skull cap, requested by an ebay customer. Thats about all…my life is so exciting *lol*
I feel just fine now. Tired as hell, but fine. No toothache, no cramps…nothing. I was on my freakin knees in pain last night, I would have figured something would have lingered through today. Oh well, not complaining. Well, maybe complaining about the lack of labor. But I’m taking the kids on a walk to the park, maybe we can boost this sluggish uterus into motion. Fingers crossed. I’m off to check for dentists in the area, so I can make myself an appointment on Monday.
Someone put me out of my misery. It’s 4:59 am. I’ve been up all night. Finally went to bed about 12:30, woke up at 1 with hellish cramps and an insane need to use the bathroom. Gross as that may be, I was happy since (I’ve heard) it’s often a sign labor is on it’s way…clearing the runway and all that jazz. So I take a quick shower and go back to bed. Only to wake again with THE.MOST.HELLACIOUS.TOOTHACHE.EVER. I swear I just wanna cry. Labor would be better than this. I can’t sleep and can barely stand the pain. Just shoot me now please. Are there even any freakin dentists open on the weekend? It’s so bad I’m considering a trip to the ER.
Finally finished Baby Jacks blankie! Although even now, I’m thinking of adding a row or two of brown to the edging…:)
Also, if someone could PLEASE teach me to make *clickable* pictures, I’d be forever thankful! I hate having to resize things so small here.
Went relatively well. Once I got seen that is- an entire hour after my appointment was scheduled for. Don’t get me started. Had slightly high blood pressure and slightly high blood sugars. My doc wants to start me on some insulin pills of some kind..I forget exactly what. Have prescription, can’t read the damn thing. I now have the luxury of a weekly biophysical profile as well…I guess it’s standard when they stick you on these pills. So I got to see Jack again today, little booger is doing well. Weighing in at an estimated 6.8 lbs and measuring right on target. Oh, and he is DEFINETELY a boy. I mean, DEFINETELY. I was having some doubts since the one ultrasound where sex was determined wasn’t the best…but OMG does this boy have some testicles! *LOL* I’ve been giggling all day…there was no mistaking his boy parts!! I’m finally going to wash all his totally boyish clothes now 🙂 You know when you reach that point in your pregnancy where you just want it to be over? Stick a fork in me, I’m done. D-O-N-E, done. I wish I could convince my doc to induce me next week…I’d be totally fine with that! I just can’t see being this pregnant for another 2 weeks…ugh. That’s forever! Although it would give me time to finish this:
Baby Jacks blankie! I think it need another row added though..it’s not quite the size I was hoping for. The square pattern is #19 from that 63 squares leaflet thingy. I really like it, but damn I’m getting tired of it. I’ve been working on it for about 2-3 months now, but I keep running out of yarn and I’m having a hell of a time finding the colors I need. Apparently no one carries the tan anymore..had to order that on ebay and wait twelve thousand years for it to arrive. Now I’m almost out of white, and need more baby blue. I think…if I’m gonna make it longer that is. And I figure I might as well…spent this much time on it already, better make it nice and cozy! Here is some other crafty crap I’ve been working on..fear my awesome knitting skills!!
And I’ve discovered that my seaming skills leave something to be desired. Oh well, for my very first knitted garmet, I’m calling it not so damn bad! Pattern from “Baby Knits for Beginners” by Debbie Bliss, yarn was Patons Fresco. Not the one called for in the book, but I have a TON (got it to make a sweater for Natalie, and she outgrew the largest written size before I got to it *lol*) so..here it is.
The little green hat is the very first thing I knitted that wasn’t a garter stitch scarf! As it is, it’s pretty simple. A hat knit on two straights (I’m dangerous enough with those, lets not get started on DPN’s!) in stockinette stitch with a 1×1 ribbing at the bottom. Go me! All the hats are from the same pattern (found it online somewhere) I simply adjusted the number of stitches to suit my mood and the yarn. Booties are the uber-simple pattern from Bevs County Cottage. I have a feeling the green ones may be too small, but we shall see.
My lil sister Mallory came to visit last night (and she brought my missing camera cord, hence the sudden appearance of pictures!). She was set upon this evening by a chorus of “rub my feets, Aunt MalMal!”
Thats a little slice of our room..I’m gonna take better (clean!) pictures tomorrow, and share my little corner of the world with ya’ll. You know you’re excited.
